Scientific Overview
Liraglutide is a once-daily GLP-1 receptor agonist with 97% homology to native GLP-1 plus a fatty-acid linker for albumin binding. Sold as Victoza (T2DM, 2010) and Saxenda (obesity, 2014) by Novo Nordisk. The LEADER trial showed cardiovascular event reduction in T2DM. Now largely displaced by weekly semaglutide.
