GDF-11
TGF-beta family ligand controversially linked to age-reversal via parabiosis studies.
Scientific Overview
GDF-11 (Growth Differentiation Factor 11) is a TGF-beta family member famously linked to reversal of cardiac hypertrophy in parabiosis experiments by Amy Wagers' lab (2013). Subsequent work by Novartis/Glass et al. (2015) disputed the original assays and showed GDF-11 can be myo-inhibitory like myostatin. Therapeutic role remains controversial.
